'Registered General Nurse "

means a female nurse who is for the time being registered in the general part of the Register. 'Registered Male Nurse" means a male nurse who is for the time being registered in the supplementary part containing the names of male nurses.

Registered Mental Nurse " means a male or female mental nurse who is for the time being registered in the supple- mentary part containing the names of nurses trained in the nursing of persons suffering from mental diseases. Registered Nurse for Mental Defectives" means a male or female nurse who is for the time being registered in any separate Section of the last-mentioned supplementary part, or in any supplementary part of the Register containing the names of nurses trained in the nursing of mental defectives.

'Registered Sick Children's Nurse " means a nurse who is for the time being registered in the supplementary part con- taining the names of nurses trained in the nursing of sick children.

Registered Fever Nurse

means a nurse who is for the time being registered in the supplementary part containing the names of nurses trained in the nursing of persons suffering from infectious diseases.

the certificate issued by that body certifying that the person named therein, having been duly trained, has, after exam- ination by that body, shown that she has attained proficiency in nursing and attendance upon insane persons.

(2) The Interpretation Act applies to the interpretation of these Rules as it applies to an Act of Parliament, and in these Rules, unless the context otherwise requires, the feminine gender includes the masculine.

(3) The forms set out in the Schedules to these Rules and all instructions contained therein shall be deemed to be part of the Rules, and such forms or form substantially to the like effect shall be used in all cases for which the forms are provided.

(4) Evidence that an applicant has been engaged in practice as a nurse shall be of such a nature as the Council may in any particular case deem sufficient.

(5) A certificate that the applicant has had training in a hospital or other institution shall not be evidence of qualification for the purposes of these Rules unless it is signed by the Matron, Medical

Superintendent, or other responsible officer of the hospital or in- stitution.

(6) If any question shall arise as to the meaning or effect of these Rules, or in connection therewith in any way, the decision of the Council thereon shall be final.
